Buying without a receipt seems harmless. The "Enxergue os Sinais" (See the Signs) campaign shows how far that habit can go.

For ABA – American Bar Association, in partnership with the agency Cause, we created the animated film for an awareness campaign against money laundering in the tri-border area of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. The initiative brings together public and private institutions from the three countries and is funded by the U.S. Department of State.

The film starts from a satellite view of South America and zooms in on an ordinary family's backyard. Through motion design, collage and an investigation board, we show how small purchases without receipts, or of smuggled goods, feed a network that strengthens organised crime, arms smuggling and drug trafficking, with a tone somewhere between humour and suspense, all the way to some not-so-harmless garden ornaments.

The one-minute film was adapted for Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay, in Portuguese and Spanish, and ran on the campaign's social media and digital channels in all three countries.

Deliverables: audiovisual script, storyboard, art direction, motion design and animation of the campaign film, with Portuguese and Spanish versions and subtitled versions.
